Flatfishing
Flatfishing is when flat fish are fished these are an order of ray finned fish, they can also be called Hetrosomta, sometimes classified as a suborder of Perciformes. This means that they are side swimmers. In most of the species of this fish both of the eyes lie on one side of the head, one or the other migrating through and around the head during development. Some of the species face their left side upwards, and other will face their right side upwards, and others will face either side upwards. There are many important food fish, these include the flounders, soles, turbot, plaice and halibut. This is just to mention a few, as there are more than 400 species of this order. Some of the flat fish are able to camouflage themselves on the ocean floor. The flat fish have many different characteristics, however the most obvious characteristic being there asymmetry, with both eyes lying on the same side of the head in the adult fish. In some of the families the eyes are always on the right side of the bodies and in other families they are always on the left side of there bodies. The primitive spiny turbots include equal numbers of right and left sided individuals.
